"Jack, Elizabeth, Ruth, Florence, Marion, Herb:
John Flint your great-grandfather, was born about 1830 or 1831 in London England; by trade a blacksmith, married a girl of County Mayo Ireland, they had eight children, most if not all of them born in Manchester England, according to all accounts he hardly knew what sickness was and used to brag about having all his teeth when 70 years of age. He died 1912 age 82 years. Not much is known of great-grandmother's relatives as they never left Ireland. You grand-father Henry Flint was born in 1860 at Manchester England, the fifth in a family of eight children, 5 boys and 3 girls; the boys all followed industrial lines in their work - engineers, blacksmiths, machinists, etc.
One of the girls had triplets, all of whom are living at this date, 1946, about 60 years of age. He came to work in Blackburn, married and stayed there until his death, the girl he married was named Elizabeth Ashton and was the daughter of a Lancashire Farmer, she was about 2 years older than grand-father and died in 1919. Grandfather died in 1934. There were six children, 5 boys and one girls, of whom your Dad was second oldest.
